Are there cut off times?
Yes, both events have to be completed with roads open to traffic again at 10am, therefore the below cut off times will be in place:

Can I walk the 12km?
Yes you can walk the 12km event but the same time cut offs still apply, so you will need to be a fast walker i.e. be able to walk at over 6kph for 2 hrs
Where is the event assembly area located?
Moorabool St near Polly Farmer Gate.
NOTE:
The assembly area is located at the Southern End of Kardinia Park on Moorabool Street.
Please arrive at the assembly area at least 30 mins before your event. (this is printed in the Race Day Info area).
What weather can I expect for the event?
The following are the normal daily temperature ranges for Geelong; November Max 22C Min 11C
Is the course suitable for wheelchairs?
The 6km course could be completed in a wheelchair with a few grassed areas to negotiate, namely Skilled Stadium. Circling Skilled Stadium involves wheeling around over 450m of grass
The 12km course involves more gutters and short sections of grassed or tan barked surfaces. The course also requires a 450m long lap of Skilled Stadium on the grass.

Registration Information
Can I enter on the day?
Yes, there will be entries taken on the day at Kardinia Park between 6.00am and 7.00am. Entry fees will be more expensive, please see our registration page for details (we do encourage you to enter via the website before Nov.4th).
What happens if I receive the race information pack and then don’t do the event?
You do NOT have to notify the organisers if you are unable to participate on the day for any reason. Your number plate and timing tag is disposable so you do not need to return them to us. Under no circumstances may you transfer or give your number plate to another person to use!
Will a race information pack be sent to me before the event?
The first 12,000 entrants will receive your event t-shirt in the post before the event in one mailing.
If you elected to pay the extra postage amount and receive your number plate before the event then yes, it will also be posted to you in a second mailing. If you did not pay the extra postage amount then no, your race number will not be posted to you before the event and you must collect it personally from registration at Market Square.
When will I receive my race tee?
If you are within the first 12,000 runners to enter and have entered by 31st August you will receive your tee in the post in early September. If you enter by 30th September you will receive your tee in the post in early October. If you enter by 9am on 7th November, you will receive your tee in the post the following week (provided you are within the first 12,000 runners to enter).
When will I receive my number plate if I have paid to have it posted?
You will receive your number plate in the post by Monday 14th November.
What if I lose my race number?
If you lose your race number between when you collect it before the race and the start of the race, please come and collect a replacement from us during the hours of registration between Thursday November 17th and race morning.
Why did I not receive a t shirt when I collected my race pack?
Only the first 12,000 entries will receive a free t-shirt. T-shirts will be posted to eligible participants before the event
What will the entry show on my credit card?

Are donations made via MyCause tax deductable?
Yes they are via the Barwon Health Foundation.
Prior To Race Day
Can I use my iPod/MP3 Player on course?
Use of these items on race day is strongly discouraged as it compromises your safety and the safety of others. However, if using one please be courteous to other competitors and be mindful of marshals and volunteers who may be giving you directional instructions.
Can I bring my dog or other pet to run/walk with me?
No. For safety reasons, animals are not permitted on the course.
Can I ride my bike alongside a friend who is running?
No. For safety reasons, bikes, skate boards and rollerblades are not permitted on the course.
Can I push a pram in the event?
Prams are permitted, however entrants who bring a pram are asked to stay at the rear of the starting line for their event, or do the 6km walk rather than the 12km or 6km run s.
I have a toddler, do they have to pay?
Children under 4 years old are required to pay a $5 entry fee. This is donated to the Children’s Ward and also covers the child for any safety and insurance issues.
What should I wear?
Runners- comfortable running gear and shoes suited to running on road surfaces. Participants should be aware that some fabrics can induce chaffing, which can become quite severe, especially for those in the 12km event. It is advisable that you wear clothing that you have trained in and are confident that it will not cause you problems whilst covering the distance. Walkers – wear something that is comfortable.
Race Day
Checklist for Race Day before you leave home!
What time do I need to be at Kardinia Park on race morning?
Participants are encouraged to arrive at least 45-60mins prior to their event to drop off any warm clothing, go to the toilets and have a warm up prior to the start of the race. Please note- due to the entry numbers expected, there may be a wait incurred when dropping off clothes, using toilets or accessing race information. Please be patient and allow plenty of time.
Where can I park?
There will be a small amount of parking on the Western and Northern sides of Kardinia Park (enter off Kilgour St). Additional parking can be found in the side streets around the ground and/or at South Geelong Station.
Where can I leave my bag?
There will be a designated area for you to leave your bags on race day. Please make sure you have all your belongings in a closed bag that is clearly marked with your race number and then drop it off at the bag security area. Please do not leave valuables in bags. Due to re-development of Doug Wade stand and the southern part of Kardinia Park the specific bag drop area will be advised closer to the event date.
Will there be a warm up?
Yes, there will be an aerobics warm up done in the parkland at the northern end of Kardinia Park adjacent to the Polly Farmer Gate at 7.20am for 12km runners and then at 7:50am for 6km runners and walkers. This is not compulsory to attend but we do recommend that all participants do their own pre race warm up before starting.
Location of Race starting line?
All events will start at the northern end of Kardinia Park at the Polly Farmer Gate (just south of the railway bridge on Moorabool St). Please check the website details or you can ask a volunteer for directions.
Will I be timed?
Yes, we will be using an electronic timing system to time all participants.
Helpful Info
Where can I find my results?
The Geelong Advertiser will publish the results and a ‘photo album’ section in the Monday 21st November paper. Results will also be available on the Run Geelong website in the few days following the event.
What roads will be closed?
This is subject to change but presently the following roads are expected to be closed:
Note: travelling across Geelong in an east to west or west to east direction will be difficult and/or delayed during the run and we askpeople to plan their travel accordingly.
There will be significant road closures in and around Geelong’s CBD on the morning of Sunday November 20th, 2011. It is important that you allow plenty of time to get to the venue. We recommend using public transport where possible or riding your bike to the event. There will be limited car parking at Kardinia Park, if you need to drive to the venue. Please plan your route and parking location prior to leaving home and expect delays
Where will the toilets be located?
Toilets will be clearly sign posted and available at the northern and southern ends of Kardinia Park, at the finish line on West Kardinia Oval and around the courses.
Where will the first aid stations be located?
First aid stations will be located around the course as listed below and in the finish area at Kardinia Park.
Where will the drink stations be?
Drink stations will be located around the courses as marked on the course map as well as in the finishing area at Kardinia Park.
